BOXTOROW National Players of the Week: Dawonya Tucker and BJ Davis

Dawonya Tucker

Prairie View A&M Running Back Dawonya Tucker
5-5, 180, Sr., Terrell, Texas

Tucker picked up where he left off last year and in the Panthers 44-23 victory over Texas Southern in the annual Labor Day Classic in Houston, got off to a similar start like last year. He carried the ball 11 times for 188 yards, averaging 17.1 yards per carry, and rushed for three touchdowns. Add his 81 yards in kickoff returns and 29 yards receiving and Tucker amassed 298 all-purpose yards.

Did you know that Tucker has gained 2,109 yards rushing in his Panther career. He’s a former two-star recruit from Terrell High School, majoring in Kinesiology.

BJ Davis

South Carolina State Linebacker BJ Davis
6-2, 189, r-Fr., Blair, S.C.

Davis registered nine tackles (seven solo), four tackles for loss, an interception and a pass breakup as the Bulldogs defeated Wofford 28-13.

Davis played in just a handful of games last year and registered seven tackles. Under the NCAA’s rule where players who play in four games or less have the ability to redshirt, it allowed for him to make 2018 a redshirt year.
