Charleston County Public Library launches new Playaway Launchpad tablets for kids

Playaway Launchpads are now available at Charleston County Public Library. These popular learning tablets feature high quality, ad-free learning apps and games that are both fun and educational for kids in preschool through second grade.

Kids will love the Launchpad experience, which lets them design a personal avatar and choose an app adventure they’re most interested in. From math and monkeys to science and superheroes, every tablet is pre-loaded with different topics so kids will have a new experience with each Launchpad they check out. Adults will love that Launchpads are 100% secure, ensuring that children will not be exposed to unintended content. Plus, the amount of playing time on the tablet can be monitored.

Launchpads can be found at the Main Library, Dorchester Road Library, Hurd/St. Andrews Library, John’s Island Library, Mt. Pleasant Library, Otranto Road Library, and Wando Mount Pleasant Library, and holds can be requested through CCPL’s online catalog. The tablets can be checked out for 14 days and are renewable as long as another customer hasn’t placed a hold to request the same tablet. Patrons can simply check out a Playaway Launchpad tablet and play. No internet connectivity or downloading are required.
