Charleston County Aviation Authority recently said goodbye to their 2019 Summer Airport Management Interns Ashley Robinson and Treyonna Alston. Ashley, an IT graduate of Purdue University, spent 10 weeks with the IT staff and said she learned a lot from the staff. Treyonna, a rising Junior at South Carolina State University, spent 10 weeks with our Engineering staff and said she enjoyed working with the staff and learned a lot.
Since 2015, 19 interns have completed the program. The interns have hailed from colleges to include: South Carolina State University, Claflin University, University of South Carolina, College of Charleston, Purdue University, Strayer University, Charleston School of Law, Charleston Southern University, The Citadel, and College of the Holy Cross. To date, 71% of participants have been minority students and 57% female students.
The Airport Management Internship program provides college students and recent college graduates with opportunities to learn the complex and dynamic profession of airport management. From Operations to Security, students develop and hone their organization, communication and project management skills while receiving hands on education in the highly specialized skills of airport management.
