Corner Squad, the entertainment company of hip-hop artist 2SLiK, will put on a Back to School Bash and school book bag drive on Saturday, August 3.
The family-friendly event, which is free to the public, will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the VFW 9505 at 1141 South Live Oak Drive in Moncks Corner, and all proceeds and donations will benefit Berkeley County First Steps.
Driven by a desire to help single parents in need, the event will be hosted by 2SLiK and music promoter Britt Bratt with support from event mavens Jessica Garrett and Amber Rodgers.
Performing that afternoon will be R&B and pop artist Ashly C, country singer James Webber, and cover artist Katelynn Smith, all Charleston natives. DJ Lil G will spin tunes during the rest of the event, which will also include a car show.
Children will enjoy a karaoke contest, the chance to interact with a K-9 unit and fire & rescue teams, free children’s haircuts, and free health screenings including dental and vision check-ups arranged by Berkeley County First Steps. A single mother specializing in weight loss will be on hand to offer free counseling to single parents.
All single mothers, parents, and families are encouraged to attend. “We hope to see all of Moncks Corner show up,” exclaims 2SLiK.
Everything at the event will be free to the public, including food and drinks. Donations to Berkeley County First Steps will be accepted on site for those who can afford to give. The event hosts are also encouraging attendees to donate school book bag items of any sort, such as construction paper, coloring utensils, educational games, hand sanitizer, tissues, and for young children, diapers and wipes.
No tickets or RSVPs are needed to attend the event.
