Ruth Taylor Joins Mary Ford Elementary As New Principal

Ruth Taylor, New Principal of Mary Ford Elementary

Charleston County School District has announced executive director Ruth Taylor will serve as principal at Mary Ford Elementary. Mary Ford’s interim principal, Camille Hendrix, will retire on June 30, 2019.

Serving at the district level, Taylor was Assistant Associate Superintendent for the Elementary Learning Community from 2010 to 2013 and Student Support Services beginning in 2014. Prior to that, she served as principal at Stono Park Elementary from 2005 to 2010 and assistant principal at Beech Hill Elementary from 1999 to 2005. She has taught on various levels from second grade to post-high school in Florida and California before relocating to the Charleston area in 1992 and landing her first job in CCSD at Stono Park Elementary as a certified Parent Educator.

Taylor earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Education from the University of South Florida in Tampa and a master’s degree in Administration and Supervision (all levels) from the University of Tampa. She also holds a certification in Elementary Education from Chapman College and a Master’s +30 in Guidance and Elementary.
