Chardale Murray-Kornickey was born November 29, 1975 in Hollywood, South Carolina. She is the daughter of Lorraine and Charlie Murray, Sr. and the mother of Bryce Murray-Kornickey. The election will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2019.
She graduated from Baptist Hill High School in 1994 and attended the University of South Carolina’s Social Work Master’s Program after graduating from Talladega College in 1998. Chardale is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Henrietta B. White Temple #1342. (I.B.P.O.E.W).
Chardale served as the French Teacher for the Upward Bound Program (1995-1998), a member of the Board of Trustees for Canaan Bible College (2005-2017), and served in the Charleston County School District for six years (2002-2008). In February 2017, she was honored by the Gamma Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. during their Finer Womanhood Observance Program.
Chardale is a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Hollywood, SC. where she serves as a member of the Usher Board and United Methodist Women Ministry, she has also been inducted into the Hall of Fame for 100 Black Women of Funeral Service (2017), and member of the SC Mortician Association and N.F.D.M.A.
She is the Owner of Murray’s Mortuary, which has been established for 15 years. She was the Manager of Harleston-Boags Funeral Home, Inc. for three years. In March 2000, she passed the state’s licensing test to become one of the area’s youngest funeral directors.
Chardale knew at an early age that God had given her a gift, and had many visions of becoming a mortician. Her parents and family had always instilled the values of the Lord and always encouraged her to continue the path that God has placed before her.
