Charleston non-profit hosts first empowerment walk to raise funds for academy

Liberating Lives is hosting their first Empowerment Walk on Saturday, August 3rd, 2019 from 1pm to 4pm starting and ending at The Spot 47, 47 Cooper Street, Charleston, SC 29403.

The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness and funds for their Liberating Lives Academy, a residential training academy for formerly incarcerated women in the Tri-County area. With this academy, they plan to support former female inmates to successfully overcome reintegration challenges associated with assimilation into society, and reduce recidivism.

The Liberating Lives Academy curriculum will provide Biblical principles, career development training to enhance the job search process, interviewing, resume creation, dining etiquette, internships, life coaching, budgeting, parenting, healthcare, and continuing education to support personal and professional development.

The walk will begin at The Spot 47 in downtown Charleston and together, participants will walk, or run, the Ravenel Bridge to the Mount Pleasant side, and then back to The Spot 47 for a celebration!

At the celebration, Liberating Lives will be passing out school supplies for families in need, as well as providing snacks and refreshments for participants. Registration for the walk is $50 per person, and includes a t-shirt and water bottle for each person.

Liberating Lives is also accepting donations of food and refreshments, as well as school supplies to give out. Liberating Lives is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so all donations made are tax deductible.
