Charleston County Treasurer Motor Vehicle Decal Renewal Program Set for 2020

Starting on March 1, 2020, Charleston County residents will be able to receive their motor vehicles decals at the Charleston County Treasurer’s office. The new measure allows the Treasurer’s Office the ability to issue simple renewal decals so that taxpayers will not have to make a separate trip to the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) or wait for the decal to come by mail.

The Treasurer’s Office will charge a one-dollar fee for each decal issued, as afforded to by law. This fee helps to defray any administrative costs that may be incurred by the issuance of the decal.

“I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to bring this new initiative to the Treasurer’s Office. Providing added convenience to Charleston County taxpayers has been my objective since day one and I will continue to work towards that goal,” proclaimed Charleston County Treasurer Mary Tinkler.

The measure received unanimous support from Charleston County Council when it was approved on April 23.
