The 4th Annual Miss Cancer Warrior Pageant will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Royal Baptist Life Center (4750 Abraham Ave, North Charleston). This year’s theme is “Stayin’ Alive.” Stayin’ Alive is a disco song written and performed by the Bee Gees from the Saturday Night Fever motion picture soundtrack. Stayin Alive is about survival in the big city, especially New York City. “Our big city that we are surviving is cancer,” says Miss Cancer Warrior Pageant creator and cancer survivor Ylonda Nero-Anderson.
To become a contestant, you must be recently diagnosed with cancer, still fighting cancer, or be a cancer survivor. “If you would like to have some fun and meet new friends, then we invite you to come groove with us and be a contestant in the 4th Annual Miss Cancer Warrior Pageant,” says Nero-Anderson.
“The Miss Cancer Warrior is not your average beauty pageant. Instead of crowning beauty queens, we crown warriors. Ladies who have endured and survived cancer. We showcase their strength and courage. The winner receives $1,000 cash on stage. No one leaves empty handed,” she explains.
