Charleston Black Theatre (CBT) is having a fundraiser for its upcoming season production of “Southern Boys” hosted by Meisha Johnson, owner of Neema Art Gallery. The location of this event is 3 Broad Street, Suite 100, Charleston, SC on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
“Southern Boys,” written by Kathy D. Harrison, is a musical of historical significance about a group of first generation born free African-Americans who yearn for a life beyond the fields. Their families have decided to stay in the Mississippi Delta, but these “Southern Boys” make a pact to migrate north. This play explores the complexities of this era in time through narratives, blues and movement.
“Southern Boys” is scheduled for October 4th, 5th, and 6th at the newly renovated Cannon Street Arts Center, 134 Cannon Street, Charleston, SC. For additional information go to www.charlestonblacktheatre.org or call 843-822-0415.
