Celebrating two decades in the Charleston Area, Thomas Media Group, LLC, publishers of SC Black Pages and producers of multi-city Black Expo, are thrilled to bring back the Black Expo Economic Empowerment Summit for its 20th Anniversary in Charleston.

The Expo, held Saturday, March 8, 2019 at the North Charleston Convention Center will feature author and actor Hill Harper, financial educator Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche, Lisa Price, founder of Carol’s Daughter, and the most recent addition, Senator Kamala Harris. Senator Harris will share her vision for small and minority business and will speak 3:15pm3:45pm.

The 20th Anniversary Expo also sees the reintroduction of vendors at the Expo under the Empowerment Summit format. The event will combine both this hallmark of the Expo experience with important opportunities for business owners and customers alike to meet and purchase goods made in the local community. President Darrin Thomas says, “Entrepreneurship is not only one of the Five Pillars of Economic Empowerment, but a true cornerstone of moving any community forward. We hope that bringing vendors back to the Expo encourages some of our small and local businesses to make strong, empowered economic choices.”

The Economic Empowerment Summit is centered on the Five Pillars of Economic Empowerment: education, jobs, health, entrepreneurship, and wealth generation. It provides an uninterrupted platform to educate, enlighten and empower attendees, and will be held from 10am-4pm. The Expo also serves its community through health screenings from MUSC and other providers, our education fair with colleges and local community organizations, live tax assistance, and job fair.

“We are excited not only about our 20th year, and the legacy we have here in Charleston, but also how we can help our attendees start building their own.” says Darrin Thomas.
