Emerging and unsigned Lowcountry artist Chaquis Maliq, also known as the EccentroSoul 1 Woman Band, is making her Charleston Pour House main stage debut January 17, 2019 at 9:00pm, as the special guest of Entertainment Weekly’s artist to watch, Louis York and The Shindellas as part of their Love Takeover tour.
Maliq is an NPR Music Tiny Desk Contest Charleston favorite. Selected as the opening act of the sold out show at Lagunitas Taproom Charleston May 22, 2017 for the TDC Winner, Tank and the Bangas; Chaquis Maliq proves that the 1 Woman Band is capable of commanding a stage.
Following the TDC experience, Chaquis Maliq joins the line-up of the Sparkle City Rhythm and Ribs Festival (Spartanburg, SC), with one of R&B’s favorites, Dru Hill, and continues her Resilience Eludes Death tour through the midwest, mid-atlantic, and closed out with warming up the night for Americana’s favorite married duo, The War & Treaty, at home in Charleston.
2018 brought forth another opening performance for Maliq with Tank and the Bangas for Monster’s Music & Movies Record Store Day. The year progressed for the EccentroSoul 1 Woman Band with her international debut at the Festival of Friends – Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; followed by a west coast show in the San Juan Islands.
While more show dates are being added, Maliq is confirmed to play Atlanta’s Inman Park Festival, April 27, 2019.
Chaquis Maliq’s self-produced EP, Resilience Eludes Death, and latest single, ‘You Can’t’ can be streamed on all platforms.
