Cadets at the Military Magnet Academy (MMA) added some special gifts to their holiday this year. Twenty-five cadets have been awarded a $100 shopping spree at the Northwoods Mall J.C. Penney Store. These cadets were selected by the school Principal, Dr. Robert Perrineau, Jr., to enjoy the shopping spree on December 14, 2018.
Students attended a 9:30 a.m. welcome ceremony at the store and then shopped when the store opened at 10:00 a.m. This Northwoods Mall store is 1 of 50 J.C. Penney stores selected by the corporate office to do this community charitable service for local students. Col. Joseph Dawson, Retired and former MMA Commandant headed the project for the MMA Foundation, Inc. Through the MMA Foundation’s community outreach efforts, Foundation member, Mrs. Victoria Montgomery and her daughter, Latonya Montgomery, (Volunteer) made it possible for MMA to be selected by the Northwoods Mall store.
Col. Dawson commented that “We are so grateful to J.C. Penney in Northwoods Mall for making this fabulous gift available to our cadets. It is encouraging to the cadets to have local merchants involved and supportive of their education and future development.”
