BOXTOROW Polls: North Carolina A&T wins MEAC title, retains No. 1 ranking

Bethune-Cookman Safety Tydarius Peters (6-0, 190, Junior, Jayess, Miss.)

North Carolina A&T’s win over North Carolina Central coupled with Florida A&M’s loss to Bethune-Cookman gave the Aggies the MEAC championship outright and helped enable the Aggies to remain No. 1 in both the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls.

In the coaches poll, the top four teams – A&T, Alcorn State, Southern and Grambling – remained the same with the Aggies receiving all but two first place votes. Alcorn State secured the SWAC Eastern Division championship and received the other two first place votes. Bethune-Cookman ended its season on a high note with a win over FAMU in the Florida Classic in Orlando and rounds out the top five.

In the media poll, Bowie State continues to roll as it defeated West Alabama in the first round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs and remains at No. 3. Bethune-Cookman reentered the poll at No. 8.

BOXTOROW National Player of the Week: Tydarius Peters
