South Carolina Coalition for Voter Participation Gears Up For Election With Establishment Of Transportation Sites

The South Carolina Coalition for Voter Participation, a non-partisan political education organization, has begun its efforts to provide transportation for those who need to get to the polls. The transportation will be limited to the polls in Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton and Dorchester counties.

Mr. Marion Welch, Chairman of the South Carolina Coalition for Voter Participation stated that, “we expect a huge turnout this election. Nevertheless, we are prepared for whatever develops.” Mr. Welch also stated that, “the organization’s policy has always been to transport all individuals regardless of race or party affiliation.”

The group also initialed a Voter Hotline fifteen years ago to process reports of witnessed poll irregularities. Individuals may report their concerns by calling (843) 822-7373.

Poll Transportation will start at 7:30 AM until 5 PM. Individuals are requested to call early by calling (843) 225-0822.

The South Carolina Coalition for Voter Participation has been providing election transportation services since 2000.
