Election Results: “We Be Comin’ Round The Mountain”

There is one week left before the final vote is cast and the winners are announced. And, there have been some knock down, drag out arguments over the best candidates and even some who I thought may have been the best candidate for office fell short in the debate.   

I hope I am not traumatized Tuesday when the votes are in. I am not a drinking woman; but, I might have to rethink that on Tuesday if some of the same candidates are re-elected.

I have had enough of #45 and his drama. I am sick and tired of #45’s lies and those who conspire and support him in his evil doings. And, for those folks who would support such mediocrity in a President simply defines who they are.

It’s been a rough two years to say the least and it is time for a change. This country needs a change. Speaking of change, what’s up with Nikki Haley’s sudden departure from her position as Ambassador to the UN?

I don’t know about y’all but I am a little suspect of the timing.  Something tells me that there is more to Ambassador Haley’s departure than what meets the eye.

Midterm elections are so close, I can almost see us comin’ round the mountain.  Hopefully, when the votes are in, elected officials will learn to work together.

It is time to bring unity and restore values to this country. Who ‘da heck thought the best form of US government is party affiliation?

Why did America’s founding fathers think it necessary to form the elephant and donkey parties? The idea may have been wise at the time; but, it’s outdated now.

Both parties are forces to be reckoned with and in my opinion, very little gets done. There is just too much riding on decisions and the interpretation of laws for future generations.

What would happen if candidates just ran on face value—not party affiliation?  Then we would have a representative or two from each state depending on the size.  What we have now are candidates that ride in each year on the Master lever, both Democrats and Republicans, who take voters for granted.

Many elected officials have made careers out of office, which brings me to terms.  There definitely needs to be term limits and particularly on the Supreme Court. Justices are elected to the Court for life and that needs to change.

Retrospectively, we have seen both Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh, regardless of character, elected to the highest court in the land. Who pays these guys for life, we do?

While we are discussing candidates, on the local level I can’t tell you how disappointed I am in many of our school board members and our representatives on school board issues.

As parents, citizens and elected officials, we are the only voice children have. Charleston County School District has three school board members up for re-election that sat on the Board while a sexual predator was allowed to remain employed during an ongoing criminal investigation.

Why haven’t we heard from our representatives on such an important issue? We cannot continue to vote representatives back into office who care less about other folks’ children and more about their own.

These very same representatives who should have spoken out about the Gethers’ case have been silent.

I can’t think of anything more important than our children and if you can’t represent children, you can’t represent me.  It’s just that simple.

I can’t tell you who to vote for; but, I can certainly drop a hint on who not to vote for, and I just did.  If you continue to vote for the same career politicians, you will continue to get the same results. Our children deserve more; our communities deserve more; our state deserves more and you, the voter, deserves more.

Either one or two things happen on Tuesday, either I binge out or we be comin’ round this mountain of despair together.
