The League of Women Voters of the Charleston Area will host a candidate forum for Charleston County Probate Judge and provide the public with the opportunity to meet the candidates for House District 115, Charleston County Council District 9, Charleston County Register of Deeds, James Island Public Service District and Charleston County Constituent School Board-James Island Three. The candidate forum will be held on Thursday, October 18, at 6:30 pm at James Island Presbyterian Church Gym, 1632 Fort Johnson Rd., Charleston, SC.
All candidates on the ballot for these offices have been invited to participate. Candidates for Probate Judge will answer questions submitted by the League and the audience. Attending candidates for SC House, County Council, and Register of Deeds will be given 5 minutes each to address the audience. All invited candidates will be given the opportunity to meet with voters before and after the forum. Journalist Warren Peper will moderate.
Additionally, the League of Women Voters of the Charleston Area will also host a forum with candidates running to serve as City of Hanahan Mayor and Council members. This forum will be held on Wednesday, October 17, at 6:30 pm. The forum will take place at Hanahan High School Auditorium, 6015 Murray Drive, Hanahan, SC 29410.
All candidates on the ballot for these offices have been invited to participate. They are: for Hanahan Mayor, Joel Hodges and Christie Rainwater; for City Council, Kevin Hedgpeth, Dan Owens, Michael Sally, and Mason Schwerzler.
These offices are non-partisan; no party designation for these candidates will appear on the ballot. Voters are advised to scroll through all pages of their ballots and cast ballots for important non-partisan races.
League President Melinda Hamilton will moderate the Hanahan forum. Candidates will answer written questions from the League and the audience.

The purpose of the candidate forum is to give voters an opportunity to meet candidates and hear them discuss issues of importance in this election. The event is free and open to the public. It follows the League of Women Voters’ nonpartisan, unbiased and impartial format.
