Increasing HOPE Financial Training Center will host its first Community Impact Luncheon at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Wednesday, August 22 at 11:00 am. DeForest Soaries Jr., author of founder of the national financial freedom movement dfree® and Pastor of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in New Jersey, will be the keynote speaker.
“Dr. Soaries is a great fit for this event because he is a pastor and understands the challenges of our community,” says says Dorothea Bernique, Executive Director of Increasing HOPE Financial Training Center. “This fundraiser will not only give us an opportunity to partner with leaders in the faith-based community but start a dialogue about a plan to create debt freedom as it relates to the local church.”
The Community Impact Luncheon also will serve as the formal announcement of the partnership between dfree® and Increasing HOPE Financial Training Center. Bernique will serve as the liaison for the Tri-county area.
“We are excited about our partnership with dfree® mainly because it specifically targets the African American community and has helped more than 30,000 people transform their lives by the significant reduction and even elimination of debt. This is a tremendous benefit as it frees up money to build wealth and leave a legacy for the next generation,” says Bernique.
More than 1700 churches are trained and certified to teach the dfree® program. Additionally, 71 chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, have collectively paid down more than $1 million in debt through their participation in dfree® and the Billion Dollar Challenge – which has 5,200 individual members. Through the Billion Dollar Challenge, members have paid down more than $7 million in debt.
