Mission Statement

Our goal is to facilitate the delivery of compassionate care to survivors of the deceased. Thereby ensuring that the remains are handled with respect, removed timely and transported to the designated facility and hand-off exchanged is done with decency and in compliance with federal, state and local laws.

Anthony Smallwood is the proprietor of Smallwood Care Removal Services, LLC of South Carolina that originated in 2016. Mr. Smallwood was born in St. Stephens, SC and reared locally, currently residing in North Charleston, SC with his spouse, Tierra Horlback-Smallwood. He is the father of Keirsten Mack of South Carolina.

Mr. Smallwood’s experience within the service industry of removal of deceased remains began at Scott’s Mortuary in South Carolina in 2011. During his tenure, he occupied the following roles: office assistant, limousine driver, and removal attendant. Progressively, Mr. Smallwood transitioned his service to The Serenity Mortuary, Inc. located in Summerville, SC, where his primary focus was removal of remains and he also served as a funeral home assistant.

When asked what he loves most about his job, Smallwood replied: “The most enjoyable experience that I love about my career is the opportunity to serve families one at a time with honesty, respect and compassion in their time of bereavement letting them know that we will transport their family member to the facility that they desire in the most professional manner.”

Smallwood is a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in St. Stephens, SC under the leadership of Reverend Cindy Shaw. He serves as the President of the United Methodist Men and as a church musician.
