SC State Graduate Continues Work in the Community

David White

David White Jr., a graduate student at SC State University on the path to obtaining a master’s degree in entrepreneurship, has always searched for positive and informative ways to give back to his community. When White’s uncle and his wife, Eric and Kim Jackson, founded R3 Incorporated, an organization which mentors and encourages at-risk youth in Charleston, S.C., White was delighted and ready to begin his calling.

Armored with the knowledge from SC State’s MBA Program, White knew that the courses he had taken at the University had prepared him for a bright future as an entrepreneur in a small business. SC State University’s MBA Program prepared White with the skills to succeed and develop an organization targeted to assist at-risk youth in the Charleston Community.

White decided that R3, Inc. (Real Talk, Real Action, Real Results) would be a wonderful opportunity to embark on a career as an entrepreneur while assisting teens with backgrounds like his. White, a former employee with the City of Charleston Parks and Recreation Center and former member of the Boys and Girls Club of America in Charleston, S.C., was happy to serve the mission and vision of R3, Inc., to assist at-risk teens in becoming productive, self-sufficient and active citizens in society.

Beginning May 1, 2018, David will embark on a different journey. He, his R3, Inc. team and partnership with Charleston Good, another Charleston, SC based grassroots organization will continue the work of Laundry Matters. Laundry Matters is the only laundromat on the Eastside Community and vital staple in the City of Charleston. While a lot of the community does not have transportation, the laundromat is conveniently located. The space can be used for a variety of efforts and more information is to come.
