Pastor’s Vacancy Notification – Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church (684 Rutledge Avenue) is seeking a full time pastor to continue the ministry of the church. The Application deadline is April 30, 2018. Qualifications are as follows:

– Must be a saved Ordained Baptist Minister and know the Baptist Doctrine                      

– Must have 4 to 5 years’ experience in leadership, administration and teaching under an Ordained Pastor, preferably of the Charleston County Baptist Association                                                                                              

– Must have a 4 year degree, preferably a Master’s Degree; and has attended Seminary College -nMust be able to teach and preach the Word of God, not monetary stability and not be a novice                                                                                           

– Must be agreeable to preach All Sundays of the month

– Must be involved all church activities(ie. Sunday School, Prayer Service; willing and able to teach Bible Study)

– Must possess public speaking skills and be strong in evangelism  

– Must be a good role model of moral and ethical conduct  

– Must practice confidentially and family /community oriented                      

– Must support Morris and Benedict College                               

– Must possess at least 3 years of Baptist ministerial experience and training

– Must supply 4 references: The Moderator of current Association, current Pastor, and male/female layperson to vouch for character

The Holy Rock Missionary Baptist Church will pause to celebrate the 22nd Anniversary of their beloved Pastor, Rev. Charles A. Green. These services will be held during the week of April 23rd–29th, 2018. Services will begin nightly at 7 p.m. The following Pastors, choirs, and congregation will be on the program: Tuesday April 24th – New Hope Baptist Church (Johns Island, S.C. – RedTop)  Rev. The Charleston Branch NAACP’s monthly General Meeting will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Morris Brown AME Church, 13 Morris Street on Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 pm. The meeting will include a visit by Charleston Police Chief Luther T. Reynolds.  Members of the Branch and of the community are invited to share their concerns about law enforcement in the City of Charleston.

Chartered in 1917, the Charleston Branch is the oldest and one of the largest and most diverse NAACP Branches in South Carolina.  All members of the NAACP and all citizens with an interest in freedom, fairness and justice are welcome and encouraged to attend.


The North Charleston Branch NAACP will host “Spring Fling” on Saturday, May 5, at the Felix Pinckney Community Center, corner of E. Montague and Hassell Ave., North Charleston. 10am-4pm,  Rain or Shine. Offering delicious fried fish or barbecued chicken dinners with sides, drinks, and dessert for $10.00 a plate. 5th Sunday Kingdom Community Connection Unity Service – Christ Temple Church of North Charleston, will host its Inaugural Unity Service on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 10:30am. This Unity Fellowship was established to bring like-minded Christians together that are from diverse backgrounds, races and cultures to worship God. Apostle Levon Smalls is the overseer of this fellowship. He says “that this has been a long awaited desire of his to connect with Christians beyond racial and cultural barriers”. “He is very thankful that God is allowing him to witness all of the five church coming together for this Apostolic gathering”.  These five churches will come together for an uplifting Ecumenical Service.  The Charleston community is cordially invited to attend this unique gathering.


The Charleston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated’s Finer Womanhood Recipients will be hosting A Youth Social Action Forum on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 2:30-4:30pm at the International Longshoreman’s Hall (ILA), 1142 Morrison Drive, Charleston, SC 29403. All are welcome to attend and engage in a discussion on various topics ranging from Gun Control to Affordable College and more. It is an opportunity to advance the conversation in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. There will be a Voter Registration station for those who are 18 and will be turning 18 this year as well as the community.
