Deninufay African Dance & Drum Co. Enlivens John L. Dart Library

The John L. Dart Library was filled with exuberant music and dancing Saturday, February 17 as local company Deninufay Drum and Dance came out to perform.

Dancers and drummers entertained a crowd of children and adults with their lively energy as part of the library’s Black History Month special events.

Throughout their performance, Deninufay talked about the Gullah culture and its connection to West Africa.

The crowd also got a lesson on the types of drums being played and was invited to participate in the dancing and drumming.
