The world lost a great leader on April 4, 1968 when an assassin’s bullet took the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The shot that killed Dr. King was fired in Memphis, TN. However, it was felt throughout the world. Fifty years later, R&R Youth and Community Empowerment Organization will commemorate the life of Dr. King through the 50th Year Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Tribute.
This auspicious and historic occasion will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Charleston Southern University and will include a life-impacting stage drama entitled Trashing the King, presentation of the “Dream Keepers Award” to 100 extraordinary Tri-County Community Leaders, presentation of Academic Scholarships to High School Students, a Celebrity & VIP Reception, and a Red Carpet Photo Shoot.
R&R Youth and Community Empowerment Organization, founded by Ron Williams, was born out of the need to set a national agenda for youth and to bless communities around the nation. The mission entails providing positive role models to educate youth and communities in the areas of financial literacy, entrepreneurship, conflict resolution, resume writing, abstinence, black history, and the judicial system. The organization also teaches churches and non-profits how to recycle monies back into their communities and organizations.
