The work of South Carolina’s 2018 General Assembly and community-wide advocacy will be the focus of “Stand Up, Speak Out,” Tuesday, January 9, 6 p.m., Charleston County Main Library, 68 Calhoun Street, 29401.
Presented by the League of Women Voters, the program is open to the community and free of charge. The League of Women Voters supports neither political parties nor candidates. It focuses instead on issues.
The evening will include training on effective advocacy at the local and state level. Shayna Howell, League Communications Director, and Sarah Johnson, League Vice President of Issues and Action, will review critical issues coming before the South Carolina General Assembly in 2018 and discuss ways citizens can make a difference in the legislative process.
As a gift to attendees, the League will distribute its Advocacy 101 handbook, a resource for effective advocacy in South Carolina state government.
