Lowcountry Voices In Demand For Christmas

Some of the most beautiful, uplifting, and inspiring music ever written is the music of the Christmas Season. No matter the religion, the denomination or even non-believers, people can’t help but react to the familiar Christmas carols and the many other classic tunes of the season.

Many churches are in preparation for their own Candlelight services and Christmas Cantatas, but several community churches have engaged the highly acclaimed Lowcountry Voices under the direction of Nathan L. Nelson, to provide an evening of Christmas joy and inspiration.

Lowcountry Voices is set to present two very different kinds of Christmas concerts on back-to back weekends in December. The first concert is set for Saturday, December 9th at the Revelation Church of Word and Deed on 418 Old Back River Road in Goose Creek. The host pastor is Rev. Kenny Collins and has set the theme for this concert as “Singing The Joy of Christmas”. Pastor Collins states, “We have been trying to get Lowcountry Voices up to Goose Creek for nearly two years, but their schedule was so hectic, it wasn’t until this time that we finally could get them to be with us. The entire church family is elated to have them bring their outstanding brand of musical presentation to Berkeley County”.

On the following Saturday, December 16th at 5PM, the choir returns to Mt. Zion AME Church at 5 Glebe Street, Downtown Charleston, for a repeat of last year’s Gospel Meets Jazz Christmas Concert entitled “Speak To My Heart” with guest artist, Charlton Singleton, Charleston’s iconic jazz artist. Rev. Dr. Kylon Middleton is the host pastor and states, “Last year’s performance by Lowcountry Voices and Charlton Singleton drew a standing room only audience. People love the music of the Advent Season and we are so fortunate to bring these two great Charleston entities together in concert.”

In addition to these two primetime concerts, the choir will also render community sings at various senior living communities and nursing homes as part of the choir’s community service. The Director, Nate Nelson states,” If there is ever a time to give back to the community for all of their support, it’s during the Christmas season. There is no greater reward to see the faces of folks light up with joy when they hear the wonderful music of the Christmas season. It’s an honor and a privilege for Lowcountry Voices to serve our community in this manner.”
