The League of Women Voters of the Charleston Area has launched a series of candidates forums for November 7, 2017, Charleston area elections. Forums for candidates for contested City of Charleston Council seats are scheduled for:
- Monday, October 16, at 6 PM, for Districts 6 and 12, at Camp Road Middle School Cafetorium, 1484 Camp Road, Charleston. Cosponsors are LWVCA, AAUW Charleston, and James Island Bugle.
- Wednesday, October 25, at 6 PM, for Districts 2 and 10, at West Ashley High School Cafeteria, 4060 Wildcat Blvd., Charleston. Cosponsors for this forum are LWVCA, AAUW Charleston, West Ashley/James Island Business Association, and West Of.
The purpose of the candidates forums is to give voters an opportunity to meet candidates and hear them discuss the issues of importance in this election. All candidates on the ballot for contested seats in even-numbered districts were invited to participate. The events are free and open to the public. They follow the League of Women Voters’ nonpartisan, unbiased and impartial format. Candidates will answer written questions submitted by the cosponsors and audience.
