Biden to Keynote Charleston Branch NAACP Centennial Freedom Fund Banquet

The Charleston Branch NAACP has announced that former United States of America Vice President Joe Biden will be the keynote speaker for the organization’s centennial freedom fund banquet. The announcement was revealed at a July 31 press conference at the branch’s offices.
Branch President Dot Scott is thrilled to have Barack Obama’s former right hand man slated for the keynote address. “The Charleston Branch is glad our former Vice President was able to find time in his schedule to join us for our 100th Year Anniversary. We look forward to his words of hope and wisdom during these challenging times in our country,” she said at the press conference.
Biden previously served as the keynote speaker for the branch’s annual event in 2006 when he was the Senator of Delaware.
The purpose of the Freedom Fund Banquet is to raise funds to help the branch maintain its operations to continue the fight for freedom and justice standing for civil rights. The community is encouraged to support the event as it will be the most significant fundraiser of the year for the civil rights group.
Chartered in 1917, the Charleston Branch is is celebrating the Centennial year of the founding of the Branch and is the oldest and one of the largest and most diverse NAACP Branches in South Carolina. All members of the NAACP and all citizens with an interest in freedom, fairness and justice are welcome and encouraged to attend.
