The South Carolina Association of Counties (SCAC) is pleased to announce its annual Presidential Scholarship program. This program awards one, $2,500 scholarship on an annual basis to a graduating high school senior who is a resident of the same county as the current SCAC president. This year’s scholarship will be awarded to a student who is a resident of Charleston County in honor of Charleston County Clerk of Court and SCAC President Julie J. Armstrong.
Applicants for the SCAC Presidential Scholarship must be planning to attend a South Carolina college/university or two-year technical college in the fall. All applicants must complete an application form and write an essay on their aspirations and goals. Two letters of recommendation are also required. Scholarship notices and application forms have been sent to all Charleston County high schools, and students may apply online via http://www.sccounties.org/scac-scholarships. The recipient will be selected by an SCAC Scholarship Selection Committee in April.

Governed by a 29-member Board of Directors composed of county officials from across the state, SCAC is a non-profit and nonpartisan organization dedicated to improving county government in South Carolina.
