Ruthless Killers: Younger and Younger
5/31/2017 1:07:02 PM

By Beverly Gadson-Birch

Every time I think things can’t get any worse they do. As cruel and inhumane as it may be, senseless deaths of children are happening more and more frequently.

Recently in Colleton County, a 19-year-old male was arrested for murdering three members of a Ruffin family, a couple and their 13-year-old child. The couple’s nine-year-old grandchild was shot in the leg and is expected to recover.

According to news report, a 19-year-old woman has been arrested and faces three counts of accessory after the fact of murder, attempted armed robbery and first-degree burglary in connection to the triple homicide. I am mystified. More and more women are involved romantically with ruthless killers. What could possibly drive two 19-year-olds to commit such heartless acts? Everything can’t be blamed on drugs! It makes no sense to me.

While trying to make sense out of nonsense, a friend sent me an article on six-year-old Kingston Frazier. Kingston was killed when three teenagers stole his mother’s car from a Kroger Grocery Store parking lot in Jackson, Mississippi while he was in the back seat. Kingston was scheduled to graduate from kindergarten the next day. What was to be Kingston’s big day turned out to be his final day. According to The Roots, Kingston was excited about his impending graduation. His mother, Ebony, said his last day was the “happiest day of his life” as he was looking forward to graduation and moving on to first grade. Three suspects, ages 19 and 17, have been arrested in connection with the murder.

A mother from Bennettsville was killed and her eight-year-old daughter kidnapped. The eight-year-old was found murdered. What could the eight-year-old have possibly done. Nothing! Gone too soon.

And what must I say for 23-year-old, Richard Collins, Bowie State University student stabbed to death while waiting at a bus stop. The murder was totally unprovoked. Some are calling the murder a hate crime while others are saying the perpetrator, 22-year-old University of Maryland student, Sean Urbanski, was under the influence. Collins was recently commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army. The F.B.I. is investigating whether Collins’ murder is a hate crime. What a waste of talent. Like six-year-old Kingston, Collins was looking forward to his graduation and beginning another chapter in his life. Unfortunately, he did not live to experience his graduation.

How do you keep your children safe? Do not leave children home alone or in cars unattended even for a few minutes. Talk to your children about talking to or getting into cars with strangers.

Predators are constantly watching out for children they can kidnap, molest and murder. Then there are children that get caught up in adult’s “mess”. Stop exposing your children to men/women that are abusers and losers. Parents are the first line of protection for children. Keep your children safe and out of harm’s way!

It’s impossible to know where crazies lurk. Be aware of your surroundings! Surround your children with good folks. We are seeing more and more ruthless killers and they are younger and younger. If you or your children feel threatened in any way, call 911.
