Walker's Legacy and the Minority Business Development Agency Sign MOU to Support Programming for Multicultural Women in Business
5/11/2017 1:30:03 PM

Walker's Legacy and the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) have partnered to further support women of color in business and entrepreneurship through the signing of a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreement.

Through the MOU, Walker's Legacy and MBDA will create programming and resources to increase the global competitiveness and promote the business growth of minority-owned businesses nationwide. This includes online and in-person engagement such as webinars, business consultations, networking opportunities, and engaging, educational events. The organizations will implement these initiatives by engaging multicultural women entrepreneurs with their joint network of more than 20,000 professional women and combined presence of over 40 MBDA Business Centers in cities across the United States.

Founder and CEO of Walker's Legacy, Natalie Madeira Cofield, and Acting MBDA National Director, Edith J. McCloud, will sign the agreement in the presence of local minority business owners and supporters of the minority business community.

"We're excited to announce what we know will be a great partnership and continuation to our relationship with the MBDA," said Natalie M. Cofield, Founder & CEO of Walker's Legacy. "The MBDA and Walker's Legacy share a mission to advance the training, education, and informational support to advance women of color in business ownership. We know that as the fastest growing segment of entrepreneurs, our commitment to the success of womenpreneurs of color is essential to achieving economic equity and stability within our communities"

The partnership will commence in tandem with National Small Business Week and National Walker's Legacy Day today, May 4, 2017. National Walker's Legacy Day is an engaging opportunity that celebrates and recognizes the economic impact and entrepreneurial accomplishments of multicultural women to the economic sustainability of the United States.

Interested parties are encouraged to host National Walker's Legacy Day programs or gatherings in their communities to recognize the opportunities and triumphs of this community of women business owners. More information and a toolkit to assist with planning can be found here.
