Julian Smith, Executive Race Director of the Cooper River Bridge Run (CRBR), celebrating its 40th Anniversary, is pleased to announce that Heather Hayes will be the headlining musical act for the 2017 Cooper Rover Bridge Run, held on Saturday, April 1, 2017. During race day, Hayes and her band will perform at the start line on Coleman Blvd. in Mount Pleasant, and at the Finish Festival on Marion Square in downtown Charleston. Hayes will also be signing the national anthem at the start line.

The Bridge Run is not only one of the top ten 10K’s in the nation, it is also the largest music curated run in the nation. As the headliner, Hayes will kick off the musical entertainment of the day. Following her performance at the start line, over 20 local bands will play along the 10K course. Race participants are encouraged to unplug and enjoy the music during one of the largest 10K races in the country. After all, the Cooper River Bridge Run isn’t just a race, it’s an experience.

Born the daughter of legendary soul singer, songwriter, actor and music producer Isaac Hayes, Heather Hayes has followed in the footsteps on her father as a natural performer.

She also spent 6 years under the tutelage of the “Godfather Of Soul” James Brown as a featured vocalist, dancer and choreographer and honed her skills as a soulful entertainer. Her live performances and vocals have been compared to Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan and Janet Jackson. Heather Hayes has even worked as a singer, dancer and choreographer for Michael Jackson, Brian McKnight, Sean “P Diddy” Combs, James Brown and Beyonce Knowles to name a few.

In the spring of 2006 Heather formed The Heather Hayes Band with six of Atlanta’s most seasoned musicians. This esteemed group have many impressive credits of their own and have recorded and toured with artists like Madonna, Cameo, Bobby Brown, George Clinton, India Arie and Whitney Houston extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.

Together, Heather Hayes and her eight-person band perform soul-stirring, crowd-pleasing music at events, festivals and in arenas throughout the country.
