The Vagina Monologues to Debut In Charleston At Events by Benita September 23rd- 25th

I know what you’re thinking. Are they serious? What in the world? Does that say Vagina? The answer is, YES. It in fact does read The Vagina Monologues. I mean we have all heard the word before yet when we say it out loud it’s just unheard of. Let’s face it they do exist. The world is in fact full of Vagina’s.

That’s what this show is all about; embracing the woman in her entirety. Empowering our women all over and acknowledging the very obvious issue many choose to ignore. South Carolina is at the top of the charts for domestic violence, nationwide. This production creates awareness of the issue while it encourages self love.

D.R.I.V.E.N. LLC is proud to be a participant in the V-Day Campaign: “a catalyst that fights gender-based violence by increasing awareness, raising money and revitalizing the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations through benefit productions of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologue, MMRP (A Memory, A Monologue A Rant and A Prayer) and other creative events (vday.org)”.

This is the first year The City of Charleston has officially joined the campaign! It is our intention to make our 2016 production of the Vagina Monologues an opportunity to promote female empowerment as well as continue spreading awareness of South Carolina’s position with domestic violence. We plan to make this special production a huge success! This will be possible, in large part, through the assistance and generosity of sponsors.

On September 23rd- 25th, 2016, this year’s performances, will be like thousands of V-Day events organized around the world, channeling creative energy into making a difference in raising money and consciousness that will unify and strengthen existing anti-violence efforts, laying the groundwork for new educational, protective, and legislative endeavors worldwide.

Part of what makes this event so special are the opportunities it offers to businesses in local communities – to participate in this global movement, to celebrate and honor women and girls in your life and community, to be part of a collective voice, a voice that refuses to be ignored, a voice that says NO to violence against women and girls.

We will be using our profits to help fund our collaborative campaign against domestic violence and provide survival kits to women and children that are victimized by acts of violence. We have partnered with The Goodbye Abuse Ministry; a faith based non-profit organization serving as a domestic violence referral resource agency and educator. Join our cast, Geri Mason, Danielle Richardson, Demetria Crenshaw, Lynnette Booth, Anastatia Ketchen and Tiffany Smalls on either Friday September 23, Saturday September 24th or Sunday September 25th at 6:30pm (doors open at 5:30) at Events by Benita 3620 Ashley Phosphate Rd, Suite 16, North Charleston, SC, 29420.
