Charleston Development Academy Public Charter School (CDA) held its 2016 commencement program on Thursday, May 26th, 2016 at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church.
Twenty students will now matriculate from the school’s complex located within the Gadsden Green Public Housing community and to various high schools throughout the Charleston County School District.
The class members are:
Kamrin Brown, Dylan Epps, Ramon Gamble, Raven Gamble, Musiza Kita, Desean Middleton, Kamari Palmer, Eboni Queen, Tywone Thomas, Jada Washington and Ebonie White. The class valedictorian is Ebonie Tyler and salutatorian is Kamrin Brown. White, who will be attended the Charleston County School of the Arts, had the distinction of scoring a ninety-nine percent on the Algebra I End of Course Equivalency Exam. Brown, who will be attending Charleston County School of Math and Science, scored a perfect one hundred percent on the English I End of Course Equivalency Exam.
The program was highlighted by a stirring inspirational message from state senator Marlon Kimpson. The class had several academic distinctions that included a one hundred percent pass rate of its English Level 1 students.
CDA, which opened its doors in 2003, has now produced its fifth class of eight grade students, and now has several of its eighth grade students at several colleges and universities that include The Citadel, Clemson and North Carolina A&T.
