Tim McCoy: A Lawyer That Really Cares

There are seemingly dozens of personal injury lawyers whose television commercials crowd the airwaves daily. Each proclaiming the large monetary awards they secured for their clients and can get for you.

Johns Island, South Carolina attorney Tim McCoy (McCoy Law Firm) isn't on television but has been settling big claims for his clients for over 30 years.

"My largest award was a seven figure medical negligence case in Colleton County." McCoy remembers.
McCoy says he likes to tackle the long shot cases."Like premises liability. That's where someone falls in a house or a store. If I push really hard, I can often find a way to recover".

But while compensation is the primary objective in each case, McCoy wants his clients to learn something from their experience.

McCoy often finds that people tend to find their lives stalled after a traumatic event. It is his goal to not only reach a fair monetary settlement for his clients, but to assist them in evolving in a way to help them meet new challenges in their lives and to tactfully re-frame his clients' situation.

"I actually have a counseling component to my practice. I don't know what impact I'll have on a person, if any, but I get a sense of satisfaction just trying."

McCoy is a 1972 graduate of Saint Andrews High School and wanted to become an electrical engineer, but admits that math was not his strongest subject, so he went to law school.

"I've always helped people so becoming a lawyer was not a far stretch." McCoy says.

Tim McCoy helped save lives as part of the US Coast Guard's Air/Sea rescue for six years. He's also an accomplished pilot who enjoys flying over the lowcountry landscape. McCoy is an avid outdoorsman who rides jet skis, has sailed to Jamaica, and participated in foxhunts in Ireland. If he didn't practice law, McCoy says he'd be doing something meaningful to contribute.

"I like to watch how people work and I want to help people get their lives together."

McCoy Law Firm is located at 3546 Maybank Highway on Johns Island. For legal help call 843 569- 8666.
